The Oxford Grange named Gertie Pierce Boyd, "Citizen of the Year" on Saturday, April 23rd, 2005.
Gertie Pierce Boyd was honored by friends and family on April 23rd, due to her outstanding character, talents, and accomplishments. She has proven great generosity and dedication to the community, church groups, and organizations. Among her many accomplishments, Gertie organized the food pantry, and served as chairperson from 1993 to 2003. Presently she is president of the Guilford Historical Society. She is also chair of the float committee and has produced three 1st prize winning floats. Gertie has been a member of the Grange for over 55 years, and holds a level of 7 degrees from local to national. She is also a member of the Chenango Wood Carvers. Her hobbies include wood carving, sewing/quilting, and baking. She generously donates many of these items as well as her time for different fund raising functions.
