Fred Lanfear Speaks at Lions Club Meeting

At the recent Oxford Lions Club meeting held at Fred’s Inn on March 14th, the Lions were pleased to welcome guest speaker, Fred Lanfear, president of the Oxford Historical Society. Mr. Lanfear described the Oxford Historical Society and its mission. It is a private, non-profit educational and cultural organization established in 1970, chartered in 1981, with about 100 members. Its goal is to preserve and share Oxford's history with the community. The Society collects, preserves and tells the story of Oxford's colorful past through interesting museum exhibits, educational presentations, reference libraries, photographs, and collections of local artifacts. After Fred’s speech, several Lions joined the Historical Society that evening.
Additional guests were Bruce and Joan Leonard and Amy Baldwin all from Oxford. Total Oxford Lions Club members in attendance were thirteen. Topics for the evening included donation requests, and future fund raising events.
The 50-50 raffle was won by Fred Lanfear. Lion Mike Douglass won a raffle for a free meal at Fred’s Inn.
A Board of directors meeting was held after the regular meeting.
