Nancy Morey of Oxford to Speak at Annual
NY Farms! Rochester Meeting

ROCHESTER - The NY Farms! Annual Meeting will be held on Friday, March 24th at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Office Building in Rochester, NY. One of three guest speakers will be Nancy Morey, Economic Development Coordinator at Opportunities for Chenango, Inc and one of the developers of Bullthistle Bounty. Nancy is known around Oxford for her farm, Shadeyside Farm, and as part of the Handspinners Group meetings held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on the third Saturday of each month.

This year's meeting is exploring “The Role of a Local Currency in Agricultural Sustainability”. Like Morey, the other guest speakers at the Rochester meeting will talk about some very innovative approaches using local currencies (and other mediums of exchange) as a means of supporting agriculture in local communities. Billie Best, Regional Farm and Food Executive Director and former E.F. Schumacher Society employee and Monika Hargrave, Ithaca Hours Board Member and Circulation Manager are the other guest speakers. At noon a NY Lunch will be served. The afternoon will be devoted to learning about initiatives, projects and programs from NY Farms! members and friends.

Farmers, consumers, educators, organizations, community food groups and businesses working together on behalf of farming are members of NY Farms! The diversity of its members is just one of the strengths of NY Farms!
