Antiques Road Show Returns to the
Oxford Historical Museum
OXFORD – The Oxford Historical Society is pleased to announce the return of their annual Antiques Road Show on Tuesday, April 25th, at 7:00 PM. This is the 9th edition of the event, and everyone’s favorite antique appraisers, Carol Wright and Joann Austin (of Bainbridge/Afton/Endicott), are returning to give their experienced and professional opinions.
Because of the popularity of this event, the Society is opening their Depot-Museum doors at 6:00 PM. Items can be dropped off early or you can stay to get a good seat. (Last year it was standing room only.) Bring in interesting small antiques, items you can carry, limited to three pieces per family; and owner holds liability.
In past years people have brought in collectibles and highly valued antiques such as old Fenton glass, sterling silver, majolica pottery, books, jewelry, small furniture, textiles, porcelain dolls, magazines, posters, and much more. Joann and Carol told such fascinating stories that even the ordinary came to life.
A brief OHS business meeting will take place at the start of the program. Of note will be the Society’s donation to the Oxford Memorial Library Building Fund toward the “Charlotte Stafford Reading Nook”.
Directions to the Depot-Museum: >From the traffic light in the Oxford Village center, turn southeast on to Main Street, then take a right (after the Fire House) onto Fort Hill Park. Make a left (pass by the middle school), onto Merchant Street and drive one mile. See the OHS Museum sign/ make a right on Depot Street where you’ll see the old D.L.& W. Railroad depot/Museum.
For more information on the OHS, visit: http://www.oxfordny.com/community/groups/historical.html or call: (607) 843-9446. They present educational programs, free to the public, on the 1st Tuesday, bimonthly, 5x per year, June/Aug/Oct/Dec.; starting at 7:00 pm.
