OXFORD - As the actress who plays Charlie Browns little sister, Kisha Estelow said she knows a little about being a nag. The Oxford Academy and Central School senior will play the famous Sally Brown this weekend on the high school stage, and the upperclassman expects the performance to make for great Mothers Day entertainment.

“If you enjoy Peanuts then you will definitely enjoy this show. For Mothers Day too, it is something that kids will sit and watch together,” Estelow said.

The Oxford Academy Music Department will present “Youre a Good Man, Charlie Brown” at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the high school auditorium.

Fellow senior Britany LaMariana said the small cast of 12 has made for what will be a tight and well thought-out performance. “Weve been able to get a lot of individual attention from our music director,” she said. Sophomore Geoff Sheldon, who plays Charlie Brown agrees, saying the cast has had ample time to work on the finer details of the show, something he thinks can be missing from a large casted show.

“The directors can focus more on you and tell you what you are doing right and wrong... Ive been in other plays where it only comes together in the end, but I think this is going to be quite good,” he said.

Oxford junior Arik Nisbet will drag his blanket across the stage. As Charlie Browns best friend, Linus Van Pelt, his character will spend much of the time trying to cheer up his buddy. “The story is about the daily life of Charlie Brown,” Nisbet said. “We try to cheer him up from his lack of self-esteem throughout the play.”

Like many of the other student actors, Nisbet has seen a few of the Peanuts holiday movies and he knows the material should be fun for you audiences. Nisbet also expects older crowds to be able to reminisce more than someone from his own age group.

“For the adults, its Peanuts. Its from their past,” he said.

Tickets will be available at the door for $5 for adults and $4 for student and senior citizens.
