Attorney Gordon Receives Appreciation
from American Legion

Alan E. Gordon, Oxford Attorney and Chenango County Public Defender, received a framed Certificate of Appreciation on May 11th, from Pat C. Marso, Oxford Fort Hill Post #376 Past Commander, and Chairman of the Children & Youth Committee.

At Mr. Gordon’s law office at LaFayette Park, Mrs. Marso presented the honorable citation to Mr. Gordon which stated, “In recognition and sincere appreciation of outstanding service and assistance which contributed to the advancement of The American Legion programs and activities dedicated to God and Country, by judging for the 2006 6th District Oratorical Contest, Department of New York – 6th District.”

The American Legion’s High School Oratorical Contest requires a high school student to prepare an 8-10 minute speech on some aspect of the Constitution of the United States, memorize it, and present it clearly and intelligently, with poise and conviction, in front of a panel of judges. Alan Gordon has made time to be a judge, over the past 20 years, because he feels very strongly about the positive benefits that students gain from the contest. Gordon said, “Aside from the possibility of winning an award check for a lot of very hard work, it’s a great learning experience for the students which may aid them in their future professions.”
