Grange Pie Eating Contest, 8/12
Chenango County Grange Pie Eating Contest
The Chenango County Fair and the Chenango County Grange co-sponsored an old fashioned pie-eating contest held on Saturday, August 12th, at the County Fair in Floral Hall. Oxford residents, representing Grange #894, Susanna Colquitt and Oxford Grange president, Tom Lawton, brought on pudding pies as kids of all ages entered this tasty test of competitive speed eating. There was a ‘no hands rule which created a pretty messy situation, but the contestants were permitted to wear plastic garbage bag “ponchos” to protect their clothes. The children chowed down on the pudding as a crowd cheered them on.
The winners were in three categories. In the Childrens Division, 1st place was: Nick Wallace; 2nd place: Colby Richardson and 3rd was Cameron Richardson. In the Pre-Teen Division, 1st was Dylan Comfort and 2nd was April Kingsbury; and in the Teen Division: 1st place went to Nick Weckesser.
The Chenango County Grange is a family-oriented, agricultural, community service fraternity. They participate annually in the Chenango County Fair offering from snacks to hearty lunch foods at the Grange food booth and also display educational exhibits.
