2006 State Bid Calling Champion Named by NYSAA
Jerry LeClar of Oxford has been named the 2006 NYS Bid Calling Champion by the NYS Auctioneers Association (NYSAA), by placing first in their competition. The Bid Calling Contest was held at their 51st annual Convention, which recently met at the Genesee Grande Hotel in Syracuse, NY.
In addition, LeClar completed his term as NYS vice president and was subsequently voted NYSAA President-Elect for 2007, which puts him in line to be president in 2008.
Auction professionals from throughout New York State and Pennsylvania attended the annual convention for professional improvement to hear guest speakers discuss such topics as marketing, product knowledge, appraisal, and changing technology. This annual event provides continuing education to auction professionals giving them improved tools to better serve buyers and sellers.
With more than 6,000 members from throughout the world, the National Auctioneers Association is the largest organization of its kind dedicated to promoting the auction method of marketing and enhancing the professionalism of its members.
Jerry LeClar is an auctioneer/appraiser at his family owned, LeClar Bros. Auction Service, LLC along with a branch office in Boonville, NY. In 2005 the LeClars opened The Gavel Auction Gallery on Rte. 12 in Oxford. Jerry and his brother, Dick, perform professional, customized liquidation services for private collections, estates, farms and businesses throughout New York State. The auction team maintains NYS licenses to sell cattle and real estate, as well as GPPA certification to conduct Personal Property Appraisals. In January 2007, the auction firm will conduct the Scotch Highland Cattle Auction at the National Livestock Expedition in Denver, CO.
Following the cattle auction, in January/February, Jerry will be returning to Moldova, a small landlocked country in Eastern Europe, for his third visit, to serve as an agricultural consultant (advisor/educator) for the US Dept. of Agriculture, Citizens Network for Foreign Affairs Program. Moldova (or "Republica Moldova") is the smallest and poorest of the former Soviet Union satellite countries and is located on the eastern border of Romania.
