Great Weekend of Music at 6 On The Square

OXFORD – 6 On The Square invites you to spend the weekend with them being entertained by a broad range of musicians!

Start the weekend off early with “Open Mic Night” Thursday (10/4), 7:30 PM. Come to perform or come to listen; it’s free admission! See performers like: Ron Palmer & Mark Sherwood, Alester & Scott Franco, Brian Murphy, or Jerry Farrell. All have played at 6OTS Open Mics past. At 6 On The Square - you never know who'll be there!

On Friday, Pat Wictor (http://profile.myspace.com/patwictor) and Joe Crookston (http://www.myspace.com/joecrookston) will join forces on stage in a show you won’t want to miss!
Pat wowed the audience at Colorscape this year, his incredible guitar fingerings and mellow voice enveloped the audience. His trademark is his Guild DV 52 lap slide guitar. It’s been said that the sounds are “snaky and sizzling”. Whether it’s his mesmerizing guitar sound, bubbling banjo, finely crafted lyrics, or his kinetic connection with his audience, Pat exudes a remarkable intergenerational, universal, and timeless quality.

Joe has been playing to packed audiences as he sings his, “Songs of the Finger Lakes”, music he’s gathered as part of research into our music cultures, beautifully painting pictures with words. Crookston’s keen musicianship as guitarist, clawhammer banjo player, fiddler, singer and songwriter fuse contemporary and traditional styles.

This will be an evening of dynamic interaction between these 2 performers, and individual mini-sets showcasing each of these talented men. Purchase tickets on-line at the discounted price of $15, until the day of the show; $18 on the day of the show. Doors open at 6:30 PM.

Then to round out the weekend, Oxford’s very own Nate Gross brings his band, Panhandle (http://www.myspace.com/panhandlemusic), home to perform on Saturday, October 6th at 7:30 PM. You may have heard this young and energetic group when they played at Fetish Fest in July. Panhandle is: Nate Gross, lead vocals/guitar; Ben, Nate’s brother, bass; Kim Collison, vocals; Justin Ploutz, guitar; Jeff Landry, drums and Riley Payne, vocal/guitar. Together their unique mix of folk, rock, and roots music creates a harmony that’s played with a passion that will be catching! Purchase tickets either on-line or at the door, $10. Doors open at 6:30 PM.
