Area All-State Festival 2007
Saturday, November 17th, 3 PM
Held at State University of NY College at Oneonta (SUCO), in the Hunt Union Ballroom
Cost: $4/adults; $3/students; 4 and under Free
CD/tape, recorded by McIver, can be ordered at the concert
The best students from 48 schools in the District were carefully chosen. They rehearsed all afternoon and evening on Nov. 16th, and all morning and up until the concert on Nov. 17th.
The Concert begins at 3 PM with the Concert Band, at 3:30 the Women's Chorus, at 4 PM the Orchestra, and at 4:30 the Mixed Chorus.
The Mixed Chorus will be singing: Emerald Stream by Seth Houston; Ching-A-Ring Chaw by Aaron Copland; The Old Church (from Prairie Songs) by Stephen Paulus; and Cloudburst by Eric Whitacre.
Directions to SUCO:
(Coming from Oxford, I take Rte. 35 to Rte 8 South to Sidney. There you merge onto I-88 East)
Take I-88 East (via the ramp on the left toward Albany) go 23.1 miles.
Exit 15 (Rte.23 West/Rt-28 N) off I-88 (.2 miles).
At the bottom of the road, turn LEFT onto Foster/James F. Lettis Hwy/NY-23 West (.5 miles). It will cross Main Street at its first major intersection, and then it becomes Maple St. At the first light on Maple Street, make a left onto Center Street and follow it to the end (which is at the Hartwick College's "Graffiti Wall").
Make a RIGHT on West Street.
Take a Right turn at the "SUNY College at Oneonta" sign onto Ravine Parkway and into the campus. Go past the Alumni Field House (on your left), go a little further, and turn right - then a quick left into the parking lot. You'll see the Hunt Union building in front of you. The concert is upstairs.
