Oxford Academy,
Those Were the Days!
The Oxford Historical Society (OHS) will hold its end of the year meeting and program on Tuesday, December 4th, 7 PM. The program, “Oxford Academy, Those Were the Days!” – a look back at the Oxford Academy faculty and memories, will be presented by OHS officers. OHS members, Blackhawk alumni, and all community are invited to this fun and enlightening presentation.
The OHS will ‘send you to the principal’s office’ and beyond as they go back as far as the ‘40’s with pictures, recollections, guest faculty members, and even a test! Can you name three band teachers –in consecutive order? Who was the famous male phys ed teacher who’s name is still honored today? What former teacher became a priest? No need to study, this quiz will all be in good fun.
For those who didn’t attend school in Oxford, it will still be a program of interest. The changes in teaching methods, discipline, dress code, ethics and advances in technology will be covered. There will even be some school pranks recalled that will make you laugh out loud.
