Fill the Mitten Tree With Your Generosity!

The Church Women United's “Community Mitten Tree” stands in the NBT Bank of Oxford, decorated with beautiful generosity from the community. From the first Saturday in November until Friday, Dec. 7th, the tree boughs, each year, fill with colorful knit mittens, hats, and slippers. They may have been purchased, or they may have been knit by hand, either way, they’re all gifts from the heart. New toys and books may also be donated, and placed under the tree.

The Church Women United collect these items from the tree, and then they're used to fill the annual Community Christmas Baskets. If there are any leftovers, they're donated to the Oxford Primary School and to Oxford Head Start to keep little heads, hands, and feet warm. Your donations of hats, slippers, mittens, toys or books are greatly appreciated. (Please no scarves.) The NBT Bank is conveniently located at 10 North Canal Street in Oxford.

The Church Women United (CWU) of Oxford are representatives from four Oxford churches: St. Joseph's, St. Paul's, United Methodist, and the United Church of Oxford. For further CWU information, contact: Sue Hubbard (607) 843-9635.

The CWU wishes to once again, thank the NBT Bank of Oxford for their generosity and assistance with the Mitten Tree; making this all possible. The CWU also gives a big thank you to the community for giving so much! Let’s make this the best Mitten Tree ever!
