Oxford Band Boosters Update & Meeting News
The Oxford Academy Band Boosters, the parent support group of band students, are happy to announce that, thanks to so many generous community members, their May 10th final fundraiser for the year was very successful. The Car Wash & Bake Sale held at the Blueox Corporation raised over $450. Kate Stopper, on behalf of the Band Boosters, would like to thank everyone involved for all their help and donations. This support helps broaden the experience of Oxford musical students and bolsters their school pride.
At the end of the car wash, the raffle winner of two tickets to 6 On The Square, was Sharon Benjamin. Sharon can go to the show of her choice, at the community music and arts venue, located at 6 LaFayette Park, Oxford. Visit www.6onthesquare.org to learn more.
The Oxford Music Department is pleased to be bringing back the pageantry and performing arts of Color Guard in Marching Band this year, under the direction of Michael Moren. Proceeds from this Car Wash/Bake Sale will assist in providing new flags. (Sponsors are also being sought.) Band Boosters is the primary support behind this and special events like the chorus trip to Darien, NY, at the end of this month when the High School chorus will be performing for judges at "Six Flags Darien Lake".
The Oxford Band Boosters will be having a final meeting on Tuesday, May 27th at 7 PM, in the High School band room. All parents of current and new band students are invited to attend. On the agenda will be the Sherburne Pageant of Bands which will be from June 5 – 7th. Oxford Academy Middle & High School: Choral, Woodwind Choir, Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz Band and Drum Line will be competing. Parent involvement on this day is greatly needed. Please attend this meeting and find out how you can help.
Our community is privileged to share in the musical development of all the students of the Oxford Academy and Central Schools and to enjoy the wonderful music they perform.
