A Thank You from Chenango Garden Clubs
NORWICH - Another successful Chenango County Fair Standard Flower show has come and gone at the Chenango County Fairgrounds in Floral Hall. "The Sound of Music” was the theme this year. Over the week, from August 5th – 10th, there were many visitors who toured the show and expressed great delight with what they saw. This Standard Flower show was judged according to the National Garden Clubs standards and guidelines and the requirements of the Federated Garden Clubs of NYS. The Oxford Garden Club won the People’s Choice Award for their entry in the club competition challenge, titled, "My Favorite Things". This was a floral design vignette to interpret the title.
The four Garden Clubs of Chenango County (GCCC), Greene Garden Club, Norwich Garden Club, Oxford Garden Club and Town & Country Garden Club of Norwich have 116 members and belong to the National Garden Clubs Inc., - Central Atlantic Region Federated Garden Clubs of New York State Inc. –VI District, Inc..
Members from each club will meet soon and discuss the past show with an eye to make any improvements or changes for next year. It takes a year of meetings and planning to put on a flower and horticulture show that can be enjoyed by everyone.
The GCCC would like to say thank-you to everyone for all their support and help. They hope to see lots of entries next year, so start your planning now.
