McDONOUGH CEMETERY CLEAN-UP DAY

An old tradition has been re-activated for the fourth year in a row. On May 8, from 9:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m., a Community Cemetery Clean-up/Fix-up Work Bee is being organized. Mark it on your calendar now. We hope to have many people of all ages volunteer to help spruce up the area in preparation for Memorial Day. The entire grounds need to be raked. Small corner markers need to be found. Small tombstones need to be straightened. Several larger monuments have to be leveled. Topsoil has to be hauled by small garden tractors and wheel barrows to level old plots and lots. Shrubs need trimming. Grass seed needs to be planted. Pine cones need removing… and best of all volunteers are needed to cook and serve hotdogs and drinks to the workers at noon… and of course, there will be a lot of visiting with friends, old and new!

Last year saw more than fifty volunteers of all ages. Just think how much work could be done by that many people in five hours again this year! Workers should bring their own gloves, tools, garden tractors, wagons and wheelbarrows. The Trustees will provide the topsoil, gravel, seed and first aid for blisters!

If interested in helping contact Pat Ford (psawdust@frontiernet.net) online or call Donna Brewer at 647-5245 … that will assure enough hotdogs for all!
