Artrain USA is coming to Norwich, New York
Don't Miss Your Stop! Educators Should Make a Reservation Today!

Artrain USA, the nation's only traveling art museum on a train, is coming to Norwich, hosted by Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival with the generous support of Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals, Golden Artist Colors, NBT Bank and Meadwestvaco.
Educators, including home-school teachers, are invited to bring their students to enjoy the unique experience of viewing a professionally curated exhibition in a hometown setting. Guided school tours will be scheduled on Monday and Tuesday, September 12th and 13th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
With five rail cars housing a fine arts exhibition, demonstrating artist studio, and gift shop, Artrain USA offers exceptional opportunities for learning. Since 1971, Artrain USA has been a leader and pioneer in taking art and cultural programming to communities throughout the United States via the nation's railroads.
Artrain USA will present Native Views: Influences of Modern Culture. This contemporary Native American exhibition celebrates the rich cultural diversity of the First People of North America and explores the commonalities that all people share. The viewer will come to understand some of the misconceptions of Native Americans and will be inspired to examine the shared cultural history. The exhibition will travel onboard Artrain USA from April 2004 through December 2007.
Participating teachers can order Educational Packets, which include specially designed lesson plans and images of some of the artwork to use as educational tools in preparation for touring Artrain USA. Although particularly well suited for grades 4, 5, and 6, the universality of the exhibit makes it appropriate for all ages.
Teachers can download Educational Packets for free through Artrain USA's website at www.artrainusa.org. If teachers do not have access to the internet, they may order the Educational Packet on CD-ROM directly from Artrain USA for $5.00 each. Call 800/ART-1971 to order with a credit card. Packets are mailed within two to three days of placing your order.
These unique guided school tours require advance reservations. A guided Artrain USA tour takes approximately one hour to complete and will be scheduled with one adult chaperone for every 20 students, every 15 minutes. If there are more than 25 people in a group, it will be split into two groups. Guided tours will also be offered to community organizations as space permits.
Artrain USA will be located next to City Hall at the corner of East Main Street and Lackawanna Lane in downtown Norwich, NY.
Free public tours will take place during Colorscape Festival on Saturday, September 10th, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday, September 11th, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The gift shop will be open and souvenir prices start at $1.00, including tax. Bus parking is available and all facilities are wheelchair-accessible.
