The present building, completed in 1969, was built on the original homestead of the Guernsey family, a bequest from Mrs. William B. Guernsey in 1902 to the Norwich City Schools for a community library. The Otis A. Thompson Room, at Guernsey Memorial Library, houses a
vast collection of local Chenango County history and genealogical materials. The
collection consists of Census records, Bible records, Vital Statistics, cemetary records
for Chenango and Madison counties, and family files for 2000 surnames. Also available are
service records for veterans from Chenango County from the Civil War through World War II
and local newspapers on microfilm. |
